Can I connect a CD player to an older/vintage stereo receiver?

I've got an old Sherwood stereo reciever/amp and I was wondering if you could run a modern CD player through it. I already run my turntable through it (Phono inputs), next to the Phono's theres 3 other inputs: Aux, Tape & Rec. Out. What do you think?? Also, there's a headphone input on the front.
Care to explain?
