can i claim compensation from college for cheating me?

i came to uk for studies from india but my college didnt start the course now after making me wait for more than 5 months they have agreed to give refund,can i claim compensation for wasting my time and the expenses i have incured during 5 months and also my travelling expenses.and how do i get it
