Can I claim a deceased family member who was in the military on my taxes?

This is a strange question, but cut and dry - My grandpa died two years ago and there's a question on Turbo Tax which asked if you have family in the Military, can I claim that I have family in the military even though he is deceased?

My girlfriends dad is in the Air Force and he says that it's perfectly legal for me to check "yes" however, he tends to not always have the best answers..so I figured I would ask again here,
