i had an accident the other day which was not my fault. my insurance company (elephant) told me to get 2 estimates. i wanted my car to be repaired only at volkswagen so i only send their estimate to my insurance company. today i received a letter that they are going to repair my car in their approved local garage. when i called them they said that if i wanted my car to be fixed at volkswagen, i would have to pay £500 excess. is it my legal right to choose where my car should be repaired? and i dont understand why i have to pay the excess. this should be covered by the other party??
