Can i change my verizon wireless phone number from area code to another?

I want to change my phone number for verizon wireles, but will they let me change it from a 815 area code to a 773, in the same state, same area just a bit south, I'm doing it for personal reasons, but do they even care?
 
They have no problem with you changing your number. There is $15 charge. The problem is that you can't change Just the area code; you'll have to get a whole new number. Having a diff area code than most ppl you know isn't going to affect your service. It just means that you'll need to dial their area code when you call, or just make sure it's programmed into your contacts.
