Can I cancel my contract with Sprint at any time?

I don't like Sprint, I despise it, but not as much as VERIZON. Anyways, due to the economy, it's either go with Metro PCS and buy their crappy phones and service or bundle up with my brother and he'll add me to his plan. (I guess I can buy the HTC Evo)

I don't want to be locked in a 1 year contract. Would I be able to cancel at any time?
