Can I buy a phone from this carrier and flash it to that carrier?

I really want a LG VX8500 Strawberry Chocolate phone! I have seen it sold by Verizon and by US Cellular, but I really want to have Criket as the provider. Can Verizon or US Cellular flash it to them??? I am lost when it comes to CDMA and GSM carriers and all that. Can you explain all this to me, and recomend what I should do?! Thanks
 
First of all Verizon and Cricket do use the same CDMA network which means all their cell phone do not require the use of any sim cards. However their cell phone are locked on their network and so you will not be able to use a cell phone from one company to another.

However you can contact Cricket Wireless and ask if they are able to flash a Verizon Strawberry Chocolate phone for you. If they can then that would be great for you. Some cell phone carriers will charge a fee to flash a phone, so please contact Cricket Wireless.
