Can I bring a backpack with a camera and laptop into the Late Show with David Letterman?

I am attending tomorrows taping and will be taking the train from Boston. I wanted to bring my laptop for the train ride. I noticed the site says that camera's, cell phones are not allowed in the theater. Has anyone attended before and had trouble? There is not really anyplace I could leave these things while there. I obviously know they can not be taken out during the taping but want to make sure I don't run into a problem when I get there.

BTW: I tried calling them but got no answer.

Thanks
Thank you Belle.
I planned on the laptop so I could get work done since I am a freelance designer and taking the day off to go to the taping. Do you personally think it would not be safe? Just wondering.

Thanks

You can take them but you won't get to hold onto them during taping.

Your backpack will be held by the show's security or possibly whomever handles seating the audience & returned to you after the taping. You may not be handed your backpack until you're outside of the studio door too.

Instead of the laptop on the train ride, take a book or an Ipod or other MP3 player, a crossword book, wordsearch book, or something else that won't be a problem when security searches your backpack before entering the studio for taping.
