Can i boost my internet speed?

I was with sky at first and was getting at least a 1 & half meg. But my partner changed it to BT and now we are paying more money and our upload speed is 0.34 mps download speed is 0.14 mps I mean to watch a 5 minute clip on youtube you have to pause it for at least 2 hours, To download a film it took me 3 days. They sent me some booster what you attache to your main phone socket but its still the same. Is there anyway we can get out of this contract as the internet speed from BT is a disgrace and they are not providing me with a good service and its £15 more on top than sky, Can anyone help me as i really need to use the internet and the speed im getting is really bad just to goggle takes its time to bring a page up
