Can I boost my college's network signal?

I am living in a house barely off of my college campus. I get a small wifi signal for "connect*****." And If I place my laptop in the front end of the house I can slowly browse the internet. Any where else I can't. I was wondering if I could use a repeater or any other device to boost that signal. If it works would I be able to use my Xbox Live and iPad off of it?
