Can I book a dentist appointment just to get a tooth removed?

Sounds weird but what I mean is, do I have to have an appointment first and have them recommend it? I only ask because I have a broken tooth in the back of my mouth, its been broken for a while but caused me no problems for a while but recently its flared up and is causing me no end of pain. Anyway, Im going on holiday in a couple of weeks and I cant really afford to pay for my tooth being pulled as well as having an appointment to recommend it beforehand.

Also, can I get an emergency/urgent appointment and how much will I be charged for this?
I'm petrified of dentists, can they knock me out before having my tooth pulled?
 
they gotta check your teeth out first to see why it needs to be pulled out, then book anuva appointment to extract it, or if its serious, as you've mentioned - if you live in the UK, go on the nhs website and find your local dental emergency apartment,
