About a year ago I borrowed a substantial amount of money from a co worker. I ran into more financial problems and could not pay back the loan. There were times when i thought i could pay the money back, but then the time that i said i could pay it back would come and i had more financial problems.

The person that i borrowed this money from would keep pestering me over and over again for this money, and i started to get annoyed because i didnt have it and they kept asking me for it even though i said i would pay it when i could, and when that day came, i would let them know.

Well the person still persisted to ask me, embarrassing me in front of other people etc. I began to get angry and very hostile to this person i borrowed the money from and threatened the person and verbally abused them pretty bad over some text messages.

I didnt mean it at all, but i was just so angry because they kept asking me over and over again when i didnt have it. Pretty soon i just started saying i would pay it on certain dates, just to get this person out of my hair, and when that day would come and i couldnt pay, the person would give me guilt trips saying they did me a favor and now i am screwing them over and putting them in financial peril because im not paying on these days i said i would.

So after i threatened my co worker, they called the police and made a police report. The police took pictures of the texts i sent and the person quit working at our job because they were scared i would follow through on the threats.

Now she is saying that she is going to sue me in court for the debt owed, and for emotional abuse and threatening to the point where she had to quit working in the same place as me.

Can i really be sued for this and what is the maxim damage i could pay for this?

Haha, yes, you can absolutely be sued for that. You threatened her (which is a criminal offence, not a tort) when she was trying to collect her money (it's not harassment, you'd have no case), which you failed to do so on numerous occasions, no wonder she's so pissed (you used her).
