I worked as a driver for an ambulatory company in Virginia. My last week at work during my lunch break I backed into and lightpost and damaged my the bumper on the company vehicle by accident. Later that week I quit/fired on unfriendly terms with the company. At the time of the accident, I told the owner of the company that I would have a friend fix the bumper since I felt sorry for the damage I caused. Now that I have quit/fired the owner is trying to get me to pay for the damages. Am I liable for damage to a company vehicle that occurred during the normal course of business?
