Can I be forced to appear in court?

I changed my mind about wanting a divorce. My husband now lives in Florida while I am still in Wisconsin. I do not want the divorce, even though I was the one to file. Can I be forced to appear in court and grant him the divorce? What if I keep putting off the date? I will be sacrificing much of my retirement account and I don't want to do that.

Why will you be sacrificing your retirement account? For attorney fees? If that's the case you can appear without an attorney, which will have a better outcome than not appearing at all. Or the two of you can just reach an agreement on any matters in question, and then you both appear in court and let the judge know what you've agreed on. If he has an attorney, he can have his attorney draw up the agreement (just be sure to read it carefully and make sure it's correct). If everything's in order, and the agreement is as you both want it, you can just sign it and he can take it to uncontested court, and then you don't have to appear in person.
