Can I be a pre-med and a dance minor at the same time?

Hey guys, I am 17 years old and currently finishing my sophomore year of high school. I am very interested in medical field, and becoming a doctor in the near future. The only problem that is torturing me is I have been dancing professionally for 12 years. I really want to go to college and be a premed, but what about all the hard work as a dancer? It is tough to just though away so many years spent on the art I love.

Is it possible to be a premed major and a dance minor in college? If it is, what would my life be like?
If you are a person who has actually done it, or just have any suggestions, please respond.

Thanks a lot for your help.

You could be pre-med with a dance minor. You could, in fact, be pre-med and be a dance MAJOR if you wanted to be.

The thing is, it doesn't matter what you major in, if your goal is med school. Med schools don't care, so long as you also do all the med school pre-req courses and experiences. And at most schools, "pre-med" doesn't actually exist as a major (although at some it does) - it's a system of advisement at those schools, not a major.

At most schools, you'd chose a major - bio, music, dance, English, history, chem, whatever - and also be pre-med, where you'd take all the science and math classes required to qualify for the med school application process. So you could be a bio major with a dance minor; or a dance major with a bio minor, or a dance major with no minor at all.

You should major in something you really like, because you need to keep your grades very high in order to get into med school. If that thing is dance, then that's fabulous. Majoring or minoring in dance will in no way hamper your ability to get into med school.
