Can Hunting Ammo Have Military Applications?

I believe that if the US military used hunting ammo in their M4 carbines, M-14, Dillon Mini-Gun, and other small arms, they would be more effective in the battlefield. By "hunting ammo" I am referring to soft point and ballistic tip ammo that is used for hunting. It costs more money to take care of wounded enemy soldiers who were wounded by full metal jacket ammo (medical then military prison costs), than to simply take them out of the fight for good with hunting ammo (very dead indeed). By the way, a enemy soldier that was wounded by a full metal jacket round can still shoot our American troops. This is why I believe hunting ammo will do a better job.

What are your thoughts on the US military adopting hunting ammunition in their small arms? Would it be more effective on the battlefield?
