Can fabric paint be used to paint over clothes/hoodies with designs on them already?

This is an image on the hoodie:

I can't find any other hoodie similar to that one that doesnt have designs on it.
I want to paint my own images and designs over the ones already there, so does fabric paint go over already printed designs or does it show through?
