Can dogs eat salt they put in canned fish?

YES! The salt in canned tuna, mackerel, salmon, etc., is a great source of iodine which is important for thyroid function.
I give my dogs canned fish once a week. They love it!
 
i don't see anything wrong with it but call a vet and ask just to be sure. and what pray tell, is a "barf diet"?
 
If the fish is canned in brine, you should avoid this. From memory I think that the "barf diet" suggests fresh raw fish.
