I am a recent college grad with a B.A. in Psychology. I am looking for entry level positions in the field, so jobs like youth counselor, mental aid, social service professional/direct care worker,etc. I found a job in the paper that I thought sounded good, but then it read, must have 4 years of professional experience working with youth and adults in a human service field. Well, I have plenty of experience working with youth and adults, but not in the human service field. I have 4 years of education, but not work experience, so I didn't apply. Now my mom is all upset with me and saying, "You're not even trying to get a job." I am trying, but I really don't think I qualify for this job at this time. So, do I qualify for it? Is it possible that 4 years of education could be enough?
Can college education ever be equal to professional experience?
