can AT&T phones work with T mobile?

i want to but a new phone, and everybody knows that t mobile doesnt have ant good phones. i heard tho that u can use an AT&T phone with a T mobile sim card. is this true
 
Yeah...It kind of takes some hacking and fiddling with it to get it to work. It's called unlocking it. There are also unlocked phones available on the market without you fiddling with it. These usually don't have those enticing deals like you would get when signing up for a contract with the company, however.
