Can apple find out if you jailbreaked your ipod?

Okay, I want to jailbreak my iPod Touch, and after intensive research the question remains: should I do it? Lets say I do jailbreak it, and something bad happens directly related to the jailbreak where my warranty would be void. I would then restore the iPod, and bring it in to the apple store. If I gave it to a Genius, is there any trace of a clue that shows I jailbroke my iPod. If there isn't which is the best software, and how do i get it. I have a Mac.
 
yes they can! even if you restore it they run a lot of test on it to see if its been tampered with in the past and if they find out its been jailbroken they will not replace it! I have jailbroken mine because the warranty has already ran out! so its your choice!
