got even brighter then....? ...died down to a normal star again. Too quick for a supernova, satellites are stationary. The only explanation i can think of is that it was a meteorite which was travelling directly towards my line of sight which happened to have a star behind it??
the star stayed at its normal dull bright level for several minutes afterwards so no clouds involved and it was stationary so not a satellite. (plus i asked the lizard king and he said 'no' that wasnt his doing!!)
