Can anyone tell me, how to get Adobe Flash Player to work on the Firefox 3 browser?

I have Windows vist and i use the Firefox browser. I cannot get Adobe Flash Player for Firefox to work. I download and install it, but it still does not work. It works with the Internet Explorer browser, but i hate Internet Explorer. I hope someone can help, because this is very frustrating!!!
