can anyone tell me how the best skins in sl is so sharp looking in resolution wise?

ive looked at laq and redgrave skins, what programs do they use to make the skins so detailed and high in resolution? When i make my skins they are still on the blurred side not so crisp lol. Does anyone have any ideas? thx in advance
