I'm a big fan of Diesel powered vehicles, and I've been around Diesels a lot, but I can't figure out how General Motors got their Diesel Engines to run so quiet in their consumer grade pick-up trucks? I've asked the Dealers and even some GM truck owners, and no one has given me a satisfactory answer. Is there anyone on here that knows the secret? It must be patented, because no other Diesel engines I've heard run as quiet.

Modern designs such as the Isuzu designed Duramax are inherently more quiet than old industrial based designs such as the Cummings or Powerstroke. Go to Europe where over 50% of all cars are diesels, in most cases you will not know the difference between gas or diesel by listening to it.
