...berth for Halong Bay (Vietnam)? I have done Halong Bay before, just on a day cruise. I have since became aware that you can charter the whole boat for only a little more than the fee paid in a pre-booked day tour seat with your home country travel agent.
I am also aware that if you go to the docks on the day you wish to travel, you can get a day trip at a per seat price at a mere fraction of the price you pay via you home country's travel agent.
I understand that it is possible to charter a whole boat (Junk) with sleeper cabins for an overnight tour of the bay and islands for less than $250 for around 6 to 8 people (as opposed to the $200+ per person through a travel agent). Have been googling but difficult to find having to troll through the numerous overpriced on-line agents who take more money into their own pockets than paid to the boat/junk owner.
Am looking at an extended holiday in Vietnam with family in April/May of 2011 and want to charter an overnight boat/junk when we visit Halong Bay. It is much to my preference to give the fee directly to the boat owner rather than fill the pockets of an agent in my own country or on-line.
