can anyone recomend me a good slr camera for me to use for photography for a college...

its amazing how few people actually read what the Q is.

first, 150 quid is ample.

in your case, old and reliable is better than new and fancy.

look towards the Olympus Om range. the OM1n is fully manual, the Om2n or Om2sp have the auto option, and their metering system is without doubt, far better than anything nikon ever did. and if youre feeling flush, go buy a Om4ti...

i have had one for over 30 years, and like all my other Olympus cameras, it still works like it did the day it came out the box.

prices vary, an Om2n /sp is about 50 quid, an Om1n, 35 quid ish... and epect to poay upto, 150 quid for a Om4ti, but you ought to get a couple of lenses thrown in.

as ever look on ebay, or if your serious, im in coventry... i dont use my 35mm kit anymore, as i now have all Olympus digital kit.

Have you noticed how you inquired about a SLR and got a rush of answers relating to DSLRs? READ THE QUESTION DOPES!
You should be able to get a suitable SLR for £50-£60 upwards. Make sure you get one that allows you to shoot in Manual mode. If it's also automatic, that's OK. The make is irrelevant.

I agree with Fiddlerboy. It really doesn't matter which one you get when talking about film cameras. The resolution is in the negative and so the same film in any camera with similar lenses and the same settings will yield pretty much the same image. There is no magic 35mm SLR that is going to be better than another.

The newer the SLR the more advanced the features will be. I own a fully manual Minolta and it only goes up to 1/1000 for its fastest shutter speed. But my Minolta Maxxum gets 1/2000 for its fastest shutter speed. Neither allow for multiple exposures. These things matter little to me.

Your not likely to get a new DSLR for less than £150.
If your new to photography then the best DSLR would be the Nikon D40. This is my first dslr and its' so easy to use.

good luck
