...Pantry Stomp by Martin Espada? I think he's mocking the very existence of Christian charities like the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. The workers look down on "agency-certified charity cases" like him, he only receives "factory-damaged cans" of food that most people would not buy, and he "smuggles" a dollar without anyone noticing, which is something he feels that St. Vinnie himself would not approve. I also don't get the phrase "maraca shaker in the salsa band of the unemployed". Please help! Thank you so much!
