Can anyone interpret the results on my MRI report?

The following is what the report reads:

Note is made of a small area of ill defined signal alteration in the greater tuberosity measuring approximately 1 cm in length.

The MRI was of the left shoulder after experiencing pain and fatigue among other symptoms. The injury occured to the left shoulder when someone fell into my arm as it was fully extended bearing my weight.

Hopefully someon can give me some more information on exactly what this means...

Thank you

The greater tuberosity in the shoulder is a part of your upper arm bone. Signal alteration means it doesn't quite look right. The person reading the film would probably have noticed if it was broken clean through, but it could be a bone bruise (those hurt a lot!) or possibly a small crack.

If that's all that's wrong, and the soft tissue in the shoulder is intact, then you're probably going to be fine, it'll just hurt for a few weeks until the bone heals. (Obviously, don't do anything demanding with that arm while you are in pain!)

See what the doctor who sent you for the MRI has to say. He should want to see the film for himself, anyway.

i would have to agree with jane here. it does sound like some level of bruising going on,if this was created by trauma. was there any mention of possible bone marrow edema as well or just the signal change? were all the soft tissue areas okay within that rotator cuff area of the shoulder itself? and jane is also very right about the bone pain too. using an anti inflammatory such as aleeve(it just lasts alot longer) would also help with that type of pain you are having. i would just take it kind of easy with that shoulder til you are a bit further out from the date of injury so it can heal properly. Hello, would it be possible for you to look at my MRI, I was rammed by a bus 15 days ago, the first x rays the day of the accident was showing two small fractures then the next day I had to return to the er due to severe pain and again 2 small fractures but then the scan showed nothing. I'm still in pain and my foot is super swollen cant walk or bare any weight. My toes are kind of black and when i stand up after having my foot up for a while the pain is horrible. A podiatrist ask me to wear a boot cast the er told me that it was ok to removed when home and quiet so the ankle foot surgeon. My next appointment is friday but I think my foot is about to explode. If you know someone that can read the images I will greatly apreciate that,

Regards
