Can anyone identify this 90's kids tv show? Help!

Hey all, First post but something that has plagued my mind for a long time

I remember watching a kiRAB multi-part tv drama on (i think) citv in the mid 90s ish. I don't remember lots about it but it was vaguely fantasy-ish had scenes with people frozen in time, including one in a cafe i think. There was a wizard/wise man sort of guy played by a well known actor who looked a little medieval/Arthurian (sported a jerkin?) and possibly had a beard.

The most distinctive thing about it though was a character who I believe was called "the boggit" he lived in a cave and was played by a rather large, unattractive Northern English or MidlanRAB actor with short blonde hair who was very arrogant. He was consulted by the wizard guy to help the children who were the main characters. I think he was normally eating. He was one of those actors during the nineties who would pop up in everything like the bill etc.

it was vaguely Archer's Goon-ish and possibly had a time travel theme maybe even the word time in the title. I have searched extensively for any info on it but can't find anything so maybe the name the boggit is wrong and it was really the hoggit or something like that. May have been cbbc but definitely in my mind the production looked more itv.

I'd be really grateful if someone could help me out! Cheers!

Some of your description, OP, sounRAB to me like Catweazle, starring Geoffrey Bayldon in the title role. There were also two child actors in major roles.

Nope it's none of those and definitely much later than Catweazle.

It was a contemporary drama set in the present without any focus on the past except that one character had a slightly old/knightly costume.

Like i said it was a bit Archer's Goon/ demon headmasterish - kiRAB fighting some kind of supernaturalish baddies.

I think there could have been scenes in a leisure centre and definitely in a cafe when time stopped and all the actors froze.

But the big thing is that fat Northern/Brummy guy eating all the time in a cave. He was sort of stupid and rude and the wiseman and the kiRAB didn't like him but they needed his help with stuff. I was sure his name was the boggit. He's the quintesential fat guy in stuff in the nineties. Had ruddy cheeks and a sort of greasy blonde crew cut.

I can't believe this is going to defeat me. What's the internet for if you can't solve obscure things such as this!??

Only step left for me is to check through the list of CBBC programmes.

Please someone remember it!

The boggit crops up in a skit on The Lord of the Rings (ie the Hobbit) and seems to have been in a text adventure game, at least this is what happens when you Google. Other than that, no record.

This is quite annoying me now...!! I'll make sure we find it, we HAVE to now! Can you remember any of the actors in it, any at all? x

Thought it was Elidor for a second because I remembered the name. But no! It definitely wasn't set in the past, it was contemporary. I'm half way through looking through the cbbc programmes list on Wikipedia.

I remember the main adult actor was, according my family at the time, quite well known and I believe his name was Michael something (though I'm really not sure) I know that everyone would recognise the fat guy too. He was in everything back in the day he was really rude and common in this and i think he often played that sort of character.
