I don't want to be unprofessional, so any help would greatly be appreciated. Also, I'm only providing the body of the letter and I am referring to a local pet shop.
On August 13, I came in to purchase some beta fish food. I was running an errand before work and was pleased to see multiple employees working that day. However, upon entering the store, I received no greeting nor was I asked if I need any assistance, due to the employees having a relaxed conversation with a couple of friends. I had no need for assistance until checking out, but my service was sluggish and dissatisfying as I received no receipt or bag. I was neither pleased with my shopping experience or on time for work.
I entered the store and heard the group of friends mocking the cats you display to encourage adoption. Their discussion was mean spirited towards the cats, offensive to owners, and inappropriate considering the environment. I felt ignored due to the fact that I wasn’t acknowledged or helped while shopping, and finally while waiting to have my purchase rung up. The cash register is only a few feet from where the employees and their friends were lounging, so I feel as though the wait was unjustified. When I was noticed, I wasn’t asked a single question, only told my total, handed my change and merchandise before the employee returned to her friends. Having shopped at your store before, I was expecting a receipt and bag, as well as prompt, courteous service considering I was the only customer at the time.
As I was given to receipt and didn’t find either employee to be wearing a name tag, I can only offer you the date of the incident. I feel that more emphasis needs to be placed on being professional in the workplace and that customer service needs to be better managed or evaluated. I am reluctant to continue shopping at your store after being disappointed with your usual prompt and friendly service.
