Can anyone give me a 'mystery in history'?

The Kensington Rune Stone - found in a Minnesota farmers field in 1898, this runic inscription bears the date of 1362, suggesting a Norse expedition that reached the middle of North America 130 year before Columbus.
Though often considered a forgery, due to apparent linguistic incongruities, recent investigations show that the language used in the inscription could have been from the 14th century, with certain aspects that were only used in that era.
Authentic? A forgery? the question is still up in the air.
