can anyone discuss the side effects of prednisone?

I'm on prednisone 20 mg twice a day for three weeks now, after three days of iv solumedrol for optic neuritis. I have experienced a lot of sweating, and I seem to have a short temper, I'm impatient. Also I sleep very little, maybe only two hours at a time then I'm awake for a few hours. I won't be tapering off of prednisone either, they will just discontinue it, what can I expect from that?

its a steroid so if they just immediatly take you off of it you may withdraw, meaning getting sick, tired,or moody

You will have nighmares and the sleeping problem will stay for a few weeks but if you get simply sleep over the counter it will help. The weight gain will go away within a couple of weeks of stopping the medication. The anger will go away in the same amount of time. But you will need to watch the following "hair loss" & "joint pain".

Good luck I am still having problems and I have been off the medication for years but I was on it for 6 months and 100 mg's a day.

predisone is a horrible pill with lots of setbacks weightgain is the biggest most horrible side effect .moodiness is not a permanent side effect.good luck as soon as u r able come off and don't look back please.
