GM is now making a profit, making attractive cars, selling on the market, and poised to give back more than we paid. Thousands, if not millions, of jobs were saved, directly or indirectly, from the bailout. Michigan wouldve been particularly devastated, and if one auto company fell the others would've too. The suppliers would go out of business, causing the other two to fail, which would've meant that the economy of Michigan and America as a whole would've collapsed.
