Sometimes when I'm driving the car starts to whine. It sounds like it's coming from the cigarrette lighter/ashtray area down there in front of the gear shift. It's an automatic transmission for whatever that's worth. The cigarrette lighter has been pushed in and is non-operational, and I have no idea where the coil for it is. I have held the cigarrette lighter to make sure it's not it rattling, but it still made the noise. The noise gets higher in pitch when I step on the gas, and lower when I let off, indicating that it is somehow linked to how many revolutions the car is making. It sounds vaguely electrical as it cracks sometimes, but the fact that it is dependent on the acceleration leads me to believe that it is not. Anybody got any idea what it could be?
