1 plugs and wires are basic
2 old car..if its got cap/rotor..look inside..replace if cruded up
3 check engine lite actually means something [not just loose gas cap]

i need some help with my car cause im not exactly sure what is wrong with it. for starters my brother and i just figured out that one tube that is important to the fuel injection system was crimped and broken. also that the spark plug wires had been messed with and it was miss firing wrong, so one question is how badly could that have messed things up? second my other brother told me that before he gave it back to my parents it was running sluggish. does anybody have any other suggestions based on the info given?

It's an old car, so I'd decide how much money is worth putting into the car. For example, if the automatic transmission has more than 150,000 miles on it, it may fail soon and be a major expense to replace. Try to restore the equipment to the original manufacturer's design, replacing the broken lines etc as well as rechecking the spark plug wires to make sure they're in the correct engine firing order and not crossed up. This all assumes the engine had regular oil and coolant changes. If not, that's another reason not to spend much money on this car.
