Hi;
I need to add a 5900 system to my household. a friend of mine is selling a 5920 system (which has never been activated ), but he says since it has never been activated only new subscribers can activate. Is this true?

If it is true, why in their right mind would they make a restriction like that?

Just go to the bell site, type in the numbers and add it to your account. I've had a box come on as fast as 5 minutes.

If the receiver was never activated you can go on the bell.ca and activate it...if it was activated your friend would have to call us to tell us he gave it to you so and you would have to callback after to make the activation

The receiver is actually a 5900, not 5920... 5900 is the model of the receiver and 5920 stands for the fact that they sent him a complete kit, which included the dish.

If you are on the Legacy packages (meaning you are paying a system charge) they will add a multiple receiver charge of 4.99$ if you do not suscribe to the movies or 2.99$ if you have the movies. This charge cold be avoided by switching to current packages

The receiver will work 15 minutes to 2 hours after you completed the activation

AEV, I also emailed BEV support this morning and got a response back this evening.. (see below). They say that if I activate it then whoever first bot it will get charged (the original purchaser). Is this true?

Thank you for your email inquiry dated 5/17/07. My name is Damien
Y.(803184) , and I am pleased to assist you.

I understand you would like to know if you can activate a brand new
model 5920.

During the initial purchase each receiver is registered to a particular
account. Therefore, it is important that your friend activates the
receiver first or they will be charged with a penalty fee.

Once the receiver is activated then you may have an equipment transfer
completed.

I know there is a penalty if they didn't activate it, but won't be able to say how much...will get back to you on that tommorow

when a customer purchases hardware, they need to activate within 60 days or they will be charged $300 per receiver purchased.

AEV;
I know that the reciever has never been activated, so i guess that the person who originally bought it will get a peanilty?

dirtyjeffer;
I understand the reasoning behind charging if it is not activated within 60 days or whatever, but who really cares if its activated by someone else on an existing account?

If it's been more than 60 days that the person does have the receiver they got the penalty already...

You can just go on the bell.ca, open a session (if you registered before) and select the option add a receiver
