Can an email send from msn to a cellphone, say verizon.. Be tracked back to it's location? Meaning like City, State stuff like that? If requested to the phone company... Just wondering because I know of someone who is was telling me about this.
Well I doubt they'd have any legal force, they would just wana find out who send it. Some nasty info was passed on to someone and they would call the company and ask to see where the email was send from. I mean, i'm pretty sure they could get the IP easyy... And perhaps track the city even? Or the name of the person it's registered too.. But would the company really do that? I mean what if the person requesting the email did it, then they release the info about someone, and that someone gets hurt. Wouldn't that be a possible lawsuit agaisnt the company?

Yes, but you would need a lot of legal force behind it. The messages are all passed through the network and are probably stored somewhere for a short period of time depending on the company's retention period. The source sender should be able to be tracked through the sending tower's identification.
