Can a wireless netbook get blown by a lightning storm?

We have a storm now and im just wondering if the lightning will kill my netbook (its plugged into my modum by a mini extension cord). what will happen when i plug in the charger for a bit and is it safe to plug the charger in while the netbooks off?
theres not really any lightning at the moment so could it be safe to plug it and charge it until the lightning returns?
