I have met an egyptian guy while on holiday in Egypt and he was so kind at first, treating me like a princess. i went to see him again 2 more times and he changed a bit. he won't let me show him any sign of affection on public and get really angry if i do so. I know that in Egypt, it is considered disrespectful but I am used to show affection to my boyfriend so, sometimes I just forget.
Also one day, he got jealous that i received a text from a friend and took my phone, and i find it to be really really poor manner. I just don't see how he thinks he could control me as I am the one who earns enough money to fly see him. When I tell things such as I am free, he assumes that I think that I can sleep with other men, while I just mean I am free to do things without having his authorization.
Also, he takes me a bit for granted, like he would parade me around , in order to show his friend that he dates a european girl but it seems not enough for him. one day, like second day after my arrival, we went to a public place and he took a pic with another european girl and posted it on facebook.
this is sad really cause I thought at first that I had met a nice exotic man who wants to marry straight away, but last time I went to Egypt, i didn't like it the same as the first times, as I just feel that women have a very restricted freeedom there and I am just no ready to sacrify my freedom.
do you think i should forget this guy or should I still give him a chance?
@scott: waw, thanks for your great answer,. you are totally right, I have no problem with him being muslim, but I definitely have problem with the egyptian customs and the way women are considered there. Yes, I had the same experience as your girlfriend.also I believe that they dont treat their women very well, but probably they think foreign women are even worth less than egyptian women.
