Can a "w" affect getting financial aid?

i am currently a student in full time dual enrollment, but i fee like it is way to much for me and i want to go back to my home school. but if i do so then i have to withdrawal from a college class and that places a "w" on my transcripts, and my guidance counselor said that it will affect my chances at financial aid next year. but i have been told by others that it won't. i just want to know if it is soo? plz plz plz plzzz help!!!
