Can a TJ pop a wheelie under the proper circumstances?

I've got a '98 TJ with a 4" pro comp lift and 33x10.50 KM2's, it's got the 4.0L engine. Recently at a routine fluid change it was pointed out that the popping noise I hear when accelerating from a stop is not the u-joints, but is the rear ring and pinion gears going bad. It's been off road in a lot of mud and deep water and has 116,000 miles on it so I'm surprised that's all that's going bad so far.. Well since I'm planning on going up to 35's when these 33's burn down then I figured I would go ahead and replace the factory 3.73 gears with 4.56's. Right now with the 3.73's I can lift one tire off the ground a bit if I rev the engine and dump the clutch, and it will almost always lift a tire in the air when turning corners. One of the guys at work tried to convince me today that this change in gears to 4.56 with 33" tires will probably allow the Jeep to do an actual wheelie with some fancy footwork on the gas and clutch. Is this true? I thought it would take a lot more ponies under the hood to do a real wheelie, not a simple gear change. When I mentioned needing more power he said I should either drop a chevy 350 in it or stroke the 4.0L to 4.7L..

And yes I understand how bad it is to drive my Jeep like this but I don't do it all the time, only to show off when friends want me to do it. Besides it's a Jeep that goes off road, if something breaks I'll just fix it. I've been driving it like a bat out of hell since I got it 2 years ago and have never been in an accident or come close to rolling it, I know it's limits.
