Can a small (25-35volt) scooter pull a bicycle trailer?

I'm looking into options for Spring, Summer, and Autumn travel around town. If it was just myself, this would be easy. However I also have to ensure my mode of transportation will also work for my daughter (who will be three this Summer). I've been looking into the "pocket" scooters, and have found out about licensing. They look like a great option! The larger ones can handle up to 300 pounds, and the smaller ones can handle up to 250. That will easily cover my daughter, a bike trailer, and myself. BUT I need to know if it's even possible to hook up a bike trailer to one. Has anyone done this before? Will it work?

Thanks so much for your time!
Thanks so much for your help so far, and for your suggestions... they really are appreciated, and have brought some things to my attention I hadn't thought of.

Here's a little more info:
We aren't interested in another car.
We like electric because it doesn't add to GHG emissions.
The price of gas scooters is out of our range.
We have roughly $500 to work with, so that limits our options severely.
