accelerate from a stop? A few months ago (give or take), the check engine light came on in my 98 Pontiac Trans Sport Montana. The temperature guage needle began jumping all over (seemingly in sync with the bumps in the road) and the engine began hesitating, just for a second, when accelerating from a stop. At first it only did it every once in a while, and only when the engine was cold. After driving for a few min, it would stop. I fixed the short in the cooling system wires, but the hesitation upon acceleration is still there, and has progressed to doing it all the time. Also, when doing a U-turn or a sharp turn, when I accelerate there is a chirping noise and the power steering hesitates in exact sync with the engine hesitation, which is what makes me question the serpentine belt. But I don't see how the serpentine belt could affect acceleration. Mind you, the check engine light is still on. Autozone would not clear it for me, and told my wife that there was one code that could only be cleared by the dealer. There were six codes and if I remember right, they all had to do with either an o2 sensor, or wiring problem. I figured it was a wiring problem since the temperature needle was bouncing in sync with the bumps in the road.
So could the serpentine belt be causing the hesitation?
Or would it be the opposite...the hesitation causing the serpentine belt to slip? And if so, probably the o2 sensor eh?
