I was engaged 2 and 1/2 years ago to a real estate attorney that talked me into buying an "investment property" under my name only. This individual later convinced me that it was a good time to refinance the mortgage and cash out on the equity. He kept the cash out of 27000 and i did not see a penny. We were never married. We had an agreement that he would continue to pay the property until he was able to sell it. He continued to pay the mortgage for 2 years until he stopped paying it in january 2009. I could not afford the mortgage on that property and my current homestead due to my limited income. I now am forced to foreclose on the property. He is not on the mortgage so he holds no financial responsibility and my credit is ruined.
I take responsibility for being naive and trusting the wrong person, but was he unethical in representing me for personal financial gain? And... is there anything that I can do about it now?
