Can a private school refuse to accept credit from a public state school?

I am attending a school in Florida who is refusing to accept my credit from a state school, which is obviously accredited. Is that legal in Florida? If not, can you please provide source as I will be contacting the school, shortly
 
Yes, there are many private schools that do not regard public school curriculum as adequate preparation for the (typically higher) level of classes they teach.
