Can a misdermeandor be reduced to a Infraction BEFORE the court date?

i got a citation for shoplifting in California im visting my mother..i go home back to texas in 3 days.... i dont want to go to court because i dont live here. I called and talked to a supervisor and she told me to go and talk to them because they coudnt help me on the phone because my citation wasnt on file. So im going there the ay before i leave to see if i can clear it up before i go home


i need advice not judgment
