Can a kid call verizon to swith phones?

i have a phone that i recently got from verizon that i really don't like. i have an old phone that i would like to switch to. my mom is away for the week and she told me to just call and have them change phones for me. But i am only 14, can i do this at this age? and if i can, what information will i need to know? thank you
