Can a hard drive go into an xbox 360 arcade system?

My xbox i currently have keeps getting the open tray error, every day, i have tried every solution to the problem and it keeps coming back so im give up and just going to buy a new system. and i was wondering if the hard drive from the one i have will go into an arcade system. please help
