Im just curious to know if there are any laws saying that a sick and contagious person can work in a fast food chain (taco bell) and make peoples food, the flu is going around this area quite bad and my work has made me work with the flu making peoples food and its embarrassing when im sitting there coughing and sneezing ( into my elbo) and im running temps of 101 to 104 and alls im doing is causing other people to catch it,

the reason why im asking is because i need to know , my work said that i need to get a doctors excuse or ill be fired, now this dont seem right , ive only called in this time i have no health insurance and the hospital is a million miles away, and i promise i would have gone to work but i got fever , muscle pains, the craps , and vomiting

can taco bell corp do this ? and im pretty sure theres got to be laws saying people sick like that cant work and handle food, seriously if theres laws to were a hair net then theres got to be one to keep people from getting sick because of ignorant management,

btw this is the state of florida

Get a doctor's note, and if they fire you, sue them. You shouldn't be working with food while sick, whether there are legal restrictions or not. It's not good for you or the people who eat what you make. I, personally, would sue Taco Bell if an employee was forced to work while ill and got me sick.

The laws aren't followed, believe me. I have two kids that worked in food service over the years and even a doctor's note got my daughter fired from Burger King. She was on drive-thru window and high temp, deep cough, etc. and went to doctor who gave her a note saying she was contagious and Burger King fired her, then two days later hired her back and she relapsed and was forced to stay on until she almost passed out and just quit. that was in Somerset, KY. The almost same situation with both kids when working at Arby's in Lexington, KY. My kids told me all the things kids do to your food at these restaurants. I rarely eat out now. Oh, some managers have joined in.
